What GetHossa is for

GetHossa is a free web app for individual investors. You import your transaction history or add trades by hand, and GetHossa shows your stock and ETF portfolio — in US dollars by default, or in euros or Polish zloty — side by side with the S&P 500.

It is built around one question: does picking your own stocks actually beat simply buying the whole market?

GetHossa is currently in beta and free to use.

How it started

GetHossa was built by Maciej Kamieniak, an individual investor in Poland who buys US stocks and ETFs. Sooner or later, everyone who picks their own stocks asks the same thing: is it worth it? If the same money had gone into an S&P 500 fund on the same days, would there be more of it today, or less?

A reliable answer turned out to be surprisingly hard to get. Brokerage apps show a percentage gain that can't be compared with an index once you add money over time, and the tools we found were either expensive or skipped the comparison that matters: the same contributions, on the same days, in the S&P 500 — dividends included.

So GetHossa was born — first as a tool for personal use, now shared with investors in the US, Poland and beyond. The name GetHossa comes from "hossa", the Polish word for a bull market.

What GetHossa does

  • Imports and manual entry — import an Interactive Brokers Activity Statement (CSV), a Revolut statement or an XTB export, and add trades and dividends from any other brokerage by hand. You see a preview before anything is saved, and importing the same file again never creates duplicates.
  • Valuation in your currency — portfolio value, profit and dividends in US dollars, euros or Polish zloty, with international stocks converted at the exchange rate of each trade date.
  • S&P 500 comparison — GetHossa "buys" the index with exactly the same amounts on the same days as you did, so you can see what your money would be worth today in the S&P 500.
  • Time-weighted return (TWR) — a measure of how well your picks performed, regardless of when and how much money you added.
  • Daily and monthly results — including US pre-market, after-hours and overnight moves.
  • Dividends — payments received and a forecast for the next 12 months.
  • Closed positions — sales matched to purchases first-in, first-out (FIFO), the IRS default method when you don't identify specific lots (for information only).
  • An AI assistant — ask about your portfolio, a company or the latest news; it answers from your GetHossa data and suggests ideas to research, without giving investment advice.
  • Company pages and a watchlist — many years of financial statements, P/E and P/B history, analyst price targets and recommendations, earnings dates and simple signals such as a big drop from the high or upcoming earnings.

GetHossa is available in Polish and English, and you can install it on your phone like a regular app (PWA). It covers stocks and ETFs listed in the US (NYSE, Nasdaq), on Xetra and other European exchanges, on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) and in London.

What GetHossa doesn't do

  • It doesn't connect to your brokerage account. We never need your broker login, password or API keys. GetHossa works only with files you download and upload yourself.
  • It doesn't place orders and has no access to your money.
  • It doesn't give advice. It won't tell you what to buy or sell. It shows data and calculations — the decisions are yours.
  • It doesn't prepare your taxes. The closed-positions and dividends views help you understand your results, but your brokerage's tax forms (such as Form 1099) are what you file from.
  • It doesn't show ads, and it doesn't sell or share your data.

Our principles

Transparent calculations

Every number in GetHossa has a documented method: the formula, the data source and the known limitations. Where we simplify, we say so. You'll find it all on the Methodology page, together with tips on how to check the numbers yourself.

No broker credentials, ever

Your brokerage account stays yours. GetHossa will never ask for your brokerage password or API keys.

Privacy

We store only what the app needs to work: your email address, a secure hash of your password, and the transactions and watchlist you add yourself. We use no analytics or tracking cookies. The details are in our Privacy policy.

Built for self-directed investors

  • Your whole portfolio in one currency — US dollars by default, with international stocks converted at the market rate of each trade date.
  • A fair benchmark: the same contributions invested in the S&P 500, dividends included, plus a time-weighted return that ignores when you added money.
  • Closed positions matched first-in, first-out, each compared with the S&P 500 over the same days.
  • US, European and Warsaw-listed stocks in one place.

Where the data comes from

  • Prices, exchange rates and company data — Yahoo Finance. GetHossa refreshes them every 5 minutes; exchange prices themselves are typically delayed by about 15 minutes.
  • Financial statements of US companies — annual 10-K reports from SEC EDGAR, combined with Yahoo Finance data.
  • Your transactions — the broker files you upload and the entries you add by hand.

Market data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Always check important numbers with your broker.

What we're working on

GetHossa is in beta and still growing. We're working on support for more brokers and on new insights that help you understand your portfolio's results. We don't give dates — we'd rather do things well than fast.
